'La valse des ombres' - 'Shadow Waltz'
By Bjorn Isebaert

Hello there, I've just read about all the 'trouble' concerning the
"Shadow Waltz". The "Shadow Waltz" is indeed "La valse des ombres",
but does anyone know from what year (more or less, of course) this song
dates ?

I've got an old 78-rpm Pathe recording with a potpourri of waltzes on
it, featuring among others "La valse des ombres", sung by a nameless
choir. This record is dated in 1925. But of course, the song must be
of an earlier date.

The 72-key Hooghuys organ of Norbert Vroman from Lendelede (Belgium)
has still three boxes with organ books that were delivered with the
organ, i.e., around 1904. Among the arrangements, all by Louis
Hooghuys, is "La valse des ombres".

I know my question isn't very important, but we're trying to identify
some of this very old music -- the old books need to be recut, and we
try to find the titles, the composers and the year of composition.

Thanks

[ Aw, I was about to ask _you_ for help identifying the origins! :)
[ I think it is time to enlist the help of the old record collectors.
[ Audiophiles! How can we contact the big collectors in Europe?
