PianoDisc Problem
By John A. Tuttle

Hi All, This query is directed at those who have a working knowledge
of the PianoDisc system. The problem is pretty straight-forward. The
PS-128 does not recognize that a disc has been put into the deck.

The power is on. The cables are all properly connected. The system
worked two years ago when I last tuned the piano but according to the
customer it has been idle since Xmas 1997. The piano was recently
moved but appears to have suffered no damage.

Everything looks and feels in place. The MIDI out function seems
operative (the light changes from red to green when the little button
is depressed and it 'sounds' like it's powering 'up')

My feeling is that the unit is suffering from a problem similar to
that which I sometimes encounter with my computer, in that it doesn't
recognize that I've put a disc in the drive. In my computer, after
I put the disc in and out a few times (tripping some small switch,
I guess), everything returns to normal. However, I tried putting the
disc in and taking it out more than a dozen or so times to no avail.

If there is a trick or an easy cure to this problem, I would be most
appreciative to know what it is. Likewise, if the deck needs to be
serviced, replaced or repaired, I would like to know where it can be
sent.

Thank you for your time,

John A. Tuttle (I never said I know everything about player pianos)
