Feline Organbuilders
By John Page, UK

[Robbie's comment on] Vicki Webb's Pooker Organ Division, "Every
good organ shop has a cat to inspect everything," is oh, so true.

When I ran my workshop in a railway arch in Brixton, London, we had
two cats, employed to keep rats away from the leather. One was called
"Gavioli", and the other "Marenghi". They were always nosing around
whenever things got put aside, and sometimes right under our noses.
I used to swear they could do the job themselves if only they could
pick up the tools.

Marenghi died young, but Gavioli is still going strong here at home,
aged 14.
