Hits of WW1 - 'Madelon'
By Jon Guy

Thought I had an old roll of 'La Madelon'. I sold lots of old rolls
some time back so I guess it went with those.

Still curious about the tune, I searched the TuneDex and found the
melody line for "Madelon". Its written by Camille Robert and has the
sub-title "I'll Be True to the Whole Regiment". (What does
'co-quettes' mean? Is it naughty in French?)

[ She teases the soldiers playfully! In the original French edition
[ the lyrics were penned by a Parisian amateur, while the American
[ edition was by the expert lyricist Alfred Bryan. -- Robbie

Is this the same tune? I played it into my XP-80 and it didn't sound
familiar, so (I don't play well) I moused it into Cakewalk. I still
did not recognize the tune. It does sound like it would make a good
tune for calliope.

We will have a new 53 note calliope (Dave Miner is building it) in mid-
August, and I am trying to round up some music for it. The thing will
play A-rolls, and I will install the UM-1 processor from Laurent Coray
and use Larry Broadmoore's MIDI valves.

How do we know when the subscription is due?
