Bob Maes' Fire
By Craig Brougher

Bob is a good friend of mine. I have gotten all my pipes from him,
and he has always dealt very kindly and generously with me. When I
read about his fire, Ellen and I were shocked and knew his grief in
his great loss.

I have not spoken to Bob since this happened, but can tell anyone
that some of the world's worst reporters work for the Kansas City Star.
They have one of the worst reputations in the world, and it's very well
deserved. They've worked hard for it. They've done everything they
can do to assure that such reputation continues. I could give you
hundreds of examples, but they aren't needed, in the light of this one.

The only thing that's really hard to believe is that you have to go to
college to learn how to do it! I'm glad that Ron Yost cleared up some
things for us, because I didn't know that Bob's organ business wasn't
harmed, either. That's good news! Thanks, Ron.
