Hi -- This question is for the users of Cakewalk Pro Audio.

Does anyone know how the "step record" feature works in Cakewalk, and
how to set it up?  I think it may be possible to step-record a MIDI
file that is 'on the measures', using the piano keyboard.  I think this
feature of Cakewalk works sort of like the old QRS arranging piano did.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do like to create hand-played rolls also, but hand played MIDI files
tend to be way off the measures and require much editing.  I think 'step
recording 'may solve the problem.

 [ Most MIDI sequencing programs will accept an external signal which
 [ advances the clock by 5 or 10 ticks, for example.  If you use 120
 [ ticks per quarter note, and each MIDI Sync pulse advances the clock
 [ by 10 ticks, then you have 12 steps per quarter note -- just the
 [ same that J. Lawrence Cook commonly used!  The MIDI Sync pulse can
 [ be generated by a simple one-shot circuit, such as a type 555 timer,
