Welte Orchestrion for R.M.S. Titanic
By Andy Struble

With all the re-run programs about the Titanic recently on TV, it
brought to mind this question.

I vaguely remember reading somewhere in the last year or so, that Welte
had been commissioned to built a Cottage Orchestrion if some sort for
the RMS Titanic. Since the organ was not completed in time, and
therefore did not sink on the ship, if it did truly exist where did it
end up and is it still around?

If someone could locate this instrument, could you imagine the hype
which could be associated with it.

Just curios.

[ The owners of at least two Welte orchestrions claim that their
[ instruments were built for installation aboard the ill-fated Titanic.
[ One instrument is displayed in the museum at Schloss Bruchsal in
[ Germany, another is in a private collection in the U.S. -- Robbie
