Value of Kramer Welte Baby Upright
By Gerry Bay

Surprise! In MMDigest 980827 I mentioned, in a post, that I had run
across a cute, baby upright made by Kramer. I thought it was just a
plain 88-note mechanism. Upon closer inspection, the mechanism in the
Kramer Baby Upright is a Welte reproducer. The piano mechanism seems
okay but the Welte needs the usual restoration. The case also would
benefit by a refinishing.

Any info about the background of this reproducing piano and its
approximate value/rarity would be greatly appreciated.

[ Inspect even closer and get the serial number of the piano, so that
[ the date may be determined, and also get a description of the Welte
[ pump and action stack. All these effect the cost of restoration,
[ which influences the current value. Has a piano tech seen it and
[ estimated the costs to fix the piano action? -- Robbie
