Mildew on Roll Boxes
By Victor Belanger

Hello Roger et al. I am a bookbinder lurking over the shoulder of my
piano technician husband. If you have 75 boxes with active mold spores
on them, I have to agree with your wife, and advise you to "expunge"
the boxes.

There is no way of totally returning the spores to the dormant stage
without a great cost and giving the boxes over to a conservator for
a matter of time. Even one spore can return the collection of boxes
-- and infest other books and boxes in your house AND the rolls --
to their infected state.

If there is valuable information as text on the boxes, take them to a
copy place and photocopy before throwing the boxes away.

You might give a try to the customer service number of Gaylord
Products, 800-634-6307, where they can suggest a box to re-house the
rolls or try http://www.gaylord.com/

Contact me off-line if you wish, if you have anymore questions. I hope
this information is helpful to you -- and yours. Good luck.
