Mechanical Music in Movies and Television
By Joyce Brite

I noted a couple of mechanical music machines while surfing around
the television this weekend, and would like to know more about them.

The first was a band organ which appeared in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
The name on the machine was the perennial cartoon brand name, Acme,
which undoubtedly is not the real manufacturer. The band organ sounded
badly out of tune, perhaps intentionally so.

The second was a theater organ which appeared in the A&E "America's
Castle's" series about "Movie Palaces." They showed the majestic
Atlanta Fox theater and its Mighty Mo organ with 3,622 pipes. They
even featured a man playing the organ.

Could anyone please give further information about either of these
machines? Thanks.
