Seeing a posting today from Kelly Goodman about mechanical music
in the movies reminded me of my intrigue by photoplayers.

I'm new to the MMD scene, but am wondering if someone might share what
they think is the best source of information on these instruments.
I was shopping for a new player (old restored) a few years ago and
saw two here in Jacksonville, FL.  That was my first introduction and
I really liked the big sound.

Came close to buying one, but ended up with a Welte reproducer and a
Seeburg K instead.  Thought the photoplayer was just too loud for the
house.

What's good reading on these machines?
