Hello All, in 1996 I brought home from the USA a wooden box of red
cedar.  I bought it from Amish people in a little store west of
Philadelphia, about 1 hour by car.

A year later I have put in a Reuge cylinder movement: 3-tunes/50-notes;
it's now a nice looking music box.  But after only one and a half year
the oil of the movement is completely resinificated.  The oil is now
like half-dry glue.

That cedar wood smells strong.  Is the transpiration of the wood not
compatible with oil ?

Does it help to lacquer the inside of the box a few times ?  I am not
familiar with that kind of wood; maybe someone can give me a good
advice for that problem.

 [ I think the wood-gas fumes are camphor.  I didn't know that it
