New Music for Disc Music Boxes
By Joerg Wendel

Happy New Year to everybody from Germany! Tom Detweiler mentioned
in MMD of Dec. 23rd. that it should be possible to make new discs for
music boxes from MIDI files.

It is correct that it is simple mathematics; this is not the problem
(not for us, because our punching machine can use the MIDI-dates),
but to find someone who can arrange the music for the disc music box.

We made already some discs with new music for the 23.5 cm Kalliope
disc music box which we produce, but the results were not good. When
we hear it in on the computer it sounds okay, but when we punch the
disc it is not the same (from the "sound"). We were not able until
now to adjust our MIDI program in the way that it really sounds like
a music box.

So if there is someone in the big MMD-world who can explain us how to
adjust Cakewalk to sound like a music box it would be very helpful.

Greetings from the romantic part of the Rhine
