Bob Loesch said about AMR:

The earlier rolls at least were unmistakable products of Play-Rite,
and some even had the Malone name on them. They also had the same leader
design - "88 NOTE RECORDING" in an ornate surround.

The association broke up abruptly when Play-Rite started offering their
own copies of AMR reproducing rolls.  Frank had built in a deliberate
distinction of his own masters from originals, by altering dynamic
coding where it did not affect playing.

This must have been around 1982. I visited Frank in '83 and by then
he only had back stocks of rolls for sale, plus a huge number of those
very fine smooth spool-ends he had had made.

AMR became "AMR Publications" and made quite a thing of reprinting rare
jukebox manuals, previously unobtainable.  As these didn't interest me,
I didn't place any orders and haven't had a mailing for at least two
years now.  If Frank gets to read this, I'd like him to know how much
I valued his efforts in the player piano field.
