This note is intended for Bob Taylor, but I am posting it here rather
than sending it privately because others may also be interested in the
subject matter: Bob's need for a Welte-Mignon Licensee Test Roll for
examination and study.

Over the years I have located, borrowed, and scanned a total of five
copies of the Welte-Mignon Licensee Test Roll.  Scanning test rolls is
always more difficult than scanning rolls containing musical material
because of the unusually sparse perforations, which are then usually
interspersed with lengthy "white space" between tests.  As a conse-
quence, it is always necessary to scan multiple copies of a test roll
to ensure that the reconstructed master roll is correct.  I have been
able to do so in the case of the Welte-Mignon Licensee Test Roll.

There are two ways of examining the restored master roll: by
perforating a new copy (which is not a "recut" but rather a "new
original" roll), or by examining the master roll image directly.
Anyone who wants to do either should get in touch with me.  I will
provide you with the master roll image and the information necessary
