I would like to thank Jeremy Brice for the comment on my message, which
I originally sent to the people in the US who will be visiting the
festival in June 1999.  It was not my intention to describe the history
of the organ.  About this history I wrote an article in "Het Pierement"
1999/2.

White's Gavioli was built in 1909 as a 112 keyless instrument and
it was the eighth of the nine organs built, as far as we now know.
Jeremy is right about the conversion; the instrument is now playing
on a 98-key Marenghi scale.  It was converted somewhere between 1926
and 1933, probably in 1930, when the organ was placed in the Cosy
Corner Amusement Park in South Wales; we have proof that music for
112-keyless was delivered by Verbeeck in London in 1926, and we have
a photograph of the organ in 1933; by then it was converted.

The job was probably done by Mr. Ben Varetto, who was working for
himself at the time.  He managed to keep as many of the pipe ranks
playing as possible.
