Source of Sheet Music Photocopies
By Richard Vance

Yesterday Damon Atchison asked for a copy of the sheet music for
"A Cup of Coffee, A Sandwich, and You"

While searching for information about an obscure piece of music by
Egbert Van Alstyne that I have on an organ roll, quite by chance I came
across a resource which ought to be better known. It is not included as
a 'link' in any of our normal resources, which ought to be corrected.

  Center for Popular Music
Box 41, Middle Tennessee State University
  Murfreesboro TN 37132
  http://popmusic.mtsu.edu/

They have the most extensive collection of sheet music I have ever
found on any library web site; there must be hundreds of thousands
of items. By clicking on the URL, and following the links to 'sheet
music', one can enter their excellent search engine, and locate al-
most anything. Even Tracy Doyle, the ultimate source for Egbert Van
Alstyne, didn't have a copy of his "Sunbeam" two-step, until this link
was pointed out to her, but they have one.

They will send you a Xerox copy, for $2.00. But for material still
under copyright (published in 1925, in this case) you have to fill out
their 'Terms of use' form first, which is only fair.

They have three different issues of "A Cup of Coffee, A Sandwich,
and You". But be careful when using the search engine: it is somewhat
literal. A search for "A Cup of Coffee..." failed, but entering "Cup
of Coffee..." came up with the result.
