Tight Tuning Pins
By Jurgen Goering

Removing 225 tuning pins to correct the torque is a _huge_ job for an
amateur and I would not recommend it. There are many tricky aspects to
getting all the pins and strings back on working properly and looking
perfect. I have yet to see a reasonable first-time effort.

If the torque does not come down to a reasonable level (125 to 175 inch-
pounds max.) within the time frame the technician said, call him back.

A professionally restrung piano should have proper tuning pin torque,
otherwise the job was not done correctly and the technician should
correct the problem, not the customer.

As soon as the customer "messes" with a job, however well or poorly
done, any guarantee may be voided.
