Art Prints Featuring Grand Pianos
By Terry Smythe

While browsing this evening, I ran across an interesting site by Lena
Liu, an artist who makes available a nice array of prints featuring
grand pianos in elegant settings. Over the years, I've noted that
quite a few collectors of reproducing and player pianos, also tend to
acquire a few very nice prints featuring a grand piano.

[ A favorite in my family is the painting by artist Willy von
[ Beckerath of Johannes Brahms seated before a grand piano. His
[ short legs hardly reach the pedals, and a stubby cigar is clamped
[ in his mouth. A related pose is assumed by Harlem pianist Willy
[ "The Lion" Smith in a recent high-key black & white poster print
[ created by artist Tom McKinney. Willie sports his derby hat and
[ cigar, which later became the trademark of Joe "Fingers" Carr and
[ many other latter-day ragtime performers. -- Robbie
