Playing Ampico Rolls on 88-note Player
By Lyle Allen

For years we have had an off-again and on-again affair with buying
a player. The other day we purchased a second-owner Cable. It is
electric/manual (spinet type) and is in excellent physical and playing
condition. The piano hasn't been delivered yet and already I am
collecting information.

We have a mixture of rolls (QRS-Ampico Play-Rite-American) that were
collected through the years prior to buying a player. My problem is
that, during the initial purchase, I tried an Ampico roll on the Cable
to find that the perforation design caused the rewind to activate.

I have an affection for these Ampico rolls (66) and wonder if there is
any slick way I could have them play on this instrument? Please post
or direct private responses to <leallen@fuse.net>.

Thank You,
Lyle Allen
