Hello, again,

Memo to Doug Henderson:  Don't worry about lost Technicolor Gershwin
sequence in "Delicious."  The movie "Delicious" was never shot with
a 2-strip Technicolor sequence!

I have seen the restored version of this movie at UCLA film archives.
It is shot in B&W.  Nowhere in the titles (or in any of my reference
materials) is there any mention of the Technicolor process.  It would
have been in the original title sequence due to the fact that it was a
very expensive process, and both Technicolor Corp.  and Fox would have
wanted the public to know! Also, I have taped the movie directly from
the Fox Movie Cable Network (where it turns up almost every month!)
And their version makes no mention of Technicolor either.  It is a
charming musical, but the Gershwin sequence was considered a flop at
the time, and the picture wasn't as successful a vehicle as the earlier
Gaynor-Farrell hit: "Sunnyside Up." Now if anyone wants to see a
bizarre art deco "Ballet Electronique" extravaganza, be sure to check
out 1930's "Madam Satan" featuring Lillian Roth.  A robot ballet takes
place in a lavish party sequence aboard a millionaire's private
zeppelin! It was C.B.  DeMille's only attempt at a musical.  And it
was a Hindenburg-sized flop.  You can catch it once in a blue moon on
TCM, or you can buy the VHS thru amazon.com or the bigger video stores.
Highly recommended.  Has to be seen to be believed!
