PianoLodeon Restoration and Roll Cutting
By Howie Leifer

I bought a PianoLodeon at a flea market but the motor doesn't work and
I don't have any music rolls. I think that I can either fix or replace
the motor but I don't know where to get the rolls. I would also
eventually like to compose for or at least make music rolls. Is
anybody out there doing that?

Howie Leifer

[ If there aren't others out there making their own PianoLodeon
[ rolls, I do hope you'll not give up on the idea. There's several
[ people here who can give you competent arranging advice, including
[ critiquing the tunes prior to cutting if they start their life
[ as MIDI files. At least two subscribers have written computer
[ programs which will turn a MIDI file into a printout on a
[ dot-matrix printer suitable for use as a cutting template.
[ I wrote one of those programs (mailto: kravitz@foxtail.com.geentroep)
[ and Lionel Van Aertryck wrote the other one
[ (mailto: lionel.van-aertryck@irisa.fr.geentroep). As always, drop
[ the "geentroep" off the end of the address. If you go the route
[ of arranging the tunes using MIDI, and if there's no rush, I'll
[ volunteer to print out a few tunes for you to encourage you to
[ pursue the project. Would one of our PianoLodeon owners please
[ provide us with a Tracker Bar Scale (hole position measurements) ?
 [ Thanks -- Jody
