In MMD 990527 you asked about how  to restore "engraved or etched lines
and patterns that were originally gold coloured" on wooden cases.

I did it quite often with the cases of ARISTON, DIANA, INTONA and even
on an extremely rare ORPHENION. After some experiments many years ogo
I am using a method which shows perfect results:

There are special shops selling all tools and materials for graphics
works,  graphics design and editing. They sell special pencils with
many different tips from extra fine to extra broad in different coulors.
The golden ones are excellent for  our application. Some of these
coulors content Toluol/Xylol, others do not. These with Toluol/Xylol
are better suited if there is some grease or wax on the background
material. I prefer the following brands available in Germany:

    Faber Castell uni PAINT Lackmalstift (with  Toluol/Xylol);
    PILOT SUPER COLOR Gold, made in Japan, (without Xylol);
    EDDING 780 paint marker (without Toluol).

I think you can find the same or similar pencils in the US.
There is only one disadvantage: If the pencils are laying around for
several months, waiting for the next restoration project, they are
drying out.
