Storing Instruments in Extreme Temperatures
By Larry Toto

Hello, I must move in a month or so. I am searching for possible
locations to rebuild a Chickering Ampico grand. One possible location
is a large unheated garage (holds about 12 cars, so heating it is out
of the question). Since Philadelphia routinely gets down to 20 degrees
F in the winter and occasionally down to below zero, I have a
temperature range issue to resolve.

I can work comfortably in the house on the components, but I may not be
able to fit the piano into the basement.

My question to the collective consciousness of the MMD is this: Can
the extreme temperatures be a problem?
