Pianos in Extreme Temperatures
By Larry Toto

My thanks to John Tuttle (again) for his sound advice on deep
freezing my piano. Based on your advice, John, I will not be storing
the Chickering Ampico in the unheated garage.

I am looking into removing the spoolbox drawer (below keybed), the
stack, and a protruding wood form back near the motor and fitting the
piano through an angled access (yielding 19" of clearance) to the
basement of my new place. It will be tight due an interior wall and
an exterior porch support column.

I am looking forward to the rebuild process. Your advice is sincerely
appreciated.

Warmly,

Larry Toto
