Hello all,  Just for a point of interest, today a model 84 Regina disc
playing chime clock, serial no. 8400012, appeared in a small upstate
New York outdoor tent auction.  The clock had been stored in a local
barn for several years.  It plays music by the use of a series of tuned
"chime" bells.

The auctioneer accepted no phone bids or credit cards, there was no
buyers premium, and he expected the clock to sell for about $1,000.
According to Bowers' Encyclopedia only two hundred Regina disc operated
chime clocks were ever produced, and only twelve model 84's, all
shipped between 1906 and 1908.

Having waited expectantly for several days, I sent my brother to buy
the clock.  Bidding started at $500, went to $750 and the very next bid
was $4,000.  Within a minute one bidder dropped out at $10,000 and the
final purchase price was $16,500 by a well-known clock collector.

I was told the surprised auctioneer actually had to take a few moments
to recover.  Thought some members may be interested.
