Kangaroo Leather for Valve Pouches
By Dave Spenner

I am rebuilding a Pratt Read Single valve mechanism that had been
configured with zephir pouches. I have found a source for Kangaroo
leather that is available in .004 thickness. Any thoughts on using
.004 inch thickness? I am more inclined to use the thicker .008-.010
because I have read about others using this with success.

Also, the interval on the wood boards between pouches is .250 inch.
Is overlapping adjacent pouch leather affixed with hot glue acceptable?

Finally, is sueded deerskin acceptable for gasket material? My source
for calfskin is thicker and I was hoping to rebuild with gasket mater-
ial of similar dimensions .020-.025 as the original. Anyone with
experience to help me with my first time is deeply appreciated.
