Gay '90s Village "Nickel Music" Recordings
By Brian Smith

It sounds like the first Coinola they were talking about on Nickel
Music was the Memory Lane Special. This is probably the only recording
of it. Paul also had a Coinola C-2 and you can hear it on the album,
"A Nickels Worth, When" and "For My Grandchildren".

The Beale Street special shows up on 3 albums -- "Nickel Music", "More
from the Gay 90s Village" and "A Nickels Worth, When". It plays a good
version of "Beale Street Blues" on "A Nickels Worth". I wish they
had done a full album of both of these but they did do a full album of
their Wurlitzer style "O" photoplayer, 2 of the Wurlitzer style "I"
piano, the Seeburg "H" pictured in the upcoming Reblitz book, and
several others, not to mention all the band organs they recorded.

One good thing about a record album was the nice big picture of the
instrument on the cover. I've heard of a few of these albums being
sold on eBay.
