Wooden Crank Rod Lubrication

Tommy Forney was asking what others are using for lubing wooden crank-
rods around a metal crankshaft.  I have found an absolute whiz of a
lubricant.  It has adhesive qualities second to none, and prevents wear
better than any lube I've ever used.

It's called JAX Magna-Plate 5, an open gear synthetic lube compound.
It's sticky, dirty stuff, and hard to get off your hands, but boy, does
that do the trick!  In small, fast bellows pumps, like the grasshopper
pumps and medium-sized high pressure orchestrion pumps, it has no
equal.  A little bit will last for many years.
