Hello List,

I have faithfully lurked this list for a number of years and read my
saved copies when I have had time.  It is beyond a doubt the best list
there is.  I cannot imagine how Jody and Robbie can do such a great job.
I have not commented as my old MG has taken up all the time I used to
spend on player pianos.  I've rebuilt two Duo-Arts; one a Steinway
Grand, the other a Stroud upright Style 600 P,  Serial No. 78561.  The
latter was originally a single expression accordion, pedal only type
which I converted to a full Duo-Art.

The reason for writing now is that I need some help.  I've recently
acquired through no fault of my own another Stroud Duo-Art, Style 593,
Serial No. 67876.  This piano has lain dormant for a number of years in
a garage and is in need of a complete rebuild, which I plan to do as
time allows.  The case is oak in fair condition with a few dings in the
veneer and some missing molding around the spool box cover.  There are
also a number of key caps missing.  Other than that the piano and
player mechanism appear to be complete and in rebuildable condition.
As it has been a number of years since I did the others I have a few
questions:

  1. The last time a bought supplies I was disappointed with the
     quality of some of the stuff I got from the Player Piano
     Company.  Tubing in particular was terrible.  I'm looking for
     a source with more dependable quality.

  2.  Can someone give me a manufacturing date for the two Strouds
      mentioned above?

  3.  What would be a fair price for the full Duo-Art Stroud in the
      unrestored condition described above, and also after restoration?
      (Although I got the piano for nothing I would like to give the
      former owner something)

  4.  What would be a fair price for the other Stroud in restored
      condition?
