Duo-Art Cross Valves -- Please Stop !
By Steve Greatrex

[ Steve's posting a few days ago asking about Duo-Art Cross
[ valves brought a mini-storm of messages to Steve with CC:'s
[ to the MMD. Some of these messages expressed concern
[ about whether people read the archives before asking
[ questions. I'm think its a bad idea to suppress discussion of
[ something again just because its been talked about
[ before. You never know what re-discussing something
[ will add value to the MMD Archives. And, frankly, I'd sure
[ hate to not talk about something at a party because
[ just because I'd talked about it before. If people don't
[ like the conversation in one corner of the party room,
[ they can mosey over to the other corner of the room (i.e.
[ you can always hit "page down" on your keyboard. Long story short,
[ Steve's question helped him solve his problem. See below. --Jody

Dear MMD'rs

My posting the other day was not intended to re-open the discussion on
the Duo Art Valve systems. I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone
who took the time and trouble to help me solve a problem.

I asked for help via the MMD and because their was conflicting advice
and as I am not an expert, I asked for more help. Some of that help
came by way of personal responses, some replied in the MMD and others
directed me to the MMD archives, which were a valuable source of
information. I am sorry if anyone thought that their efforts were not
appreciated. - they were.

The bottom line is this: At long last my piano is playing fantastically
(to me anyhow !) I able to enjoy the music and I hear the Duo Art's
expression without having to set the minimum so high that I had to stand
outside in the garden to prevent perforated ear drums. I am playing
rolls that no longer sound "mechanical". I have been able to set the
minimum level lower and lower and now the soft playing is 'even' and
notes 'just' sound, without failing and the repetition is like a
machine gun, even at low levels.

This could not have been achieved without the help of the many
contributors to whom I am very grateful.

Thank you all for your help and please let the matter close on a
positive note.

Regards

Steve Greatrex
