"Roll 'Em Girls" On Wurlitzer 165 Roll
By Matthew Caulfield

Robbie, "Roll 'Em Girls (Roll Your Own)" appears as tune 4 on
Wurlitzer style 165 roll no. 6633, issued in late 1925. The copyright
records credit the tune to Marr, Heath & Fletcher, Oct. 9, 1925. It is
a tune that I like very much, and I can send you a cassette of it, with
the other 9 tunes on the roll, if you like.

[ Thanks also to Dan Robinson for the same information. -- Robbie

Coincidentally, I just bought over eBay the sheet music for the tune,
because I was interested in knowing the lyrics. I knew that they had
to do with the fashion of rolling down silk stockings to the ankles
(not, as sometimes supposed, with rolling cigarettes). But I was
disappointed in the lyrics when I saw them.

MMD'er Mark Chester pointed me to a web site where you can download
images of much pre-1923 (i.e. public domain) sheet music, but because
of the post-1922 copyright date, it might have listed "Roll 'Em Girls",
but it wouldn't have allowed downloading.
