FS: Duo-Art Biographical Rolls
By Brian Chesters

I have in my collection the full set of Duo-Art Biographical rolls made
in the 30s in the UK and am thinking of selling them. I have had them
for 20 years and have not played them yet. I would describe them as in
near-perfect condition.

I understood that these helped to bankrupt the Aeolian company, they
were so expensive to produce. Is this true, and any ideas on how much
to ask? Have any appeared in roll auctions in recent times?

I bought these from an old collector in London who wanted to sell his
player-piano and 960 rolls. The rolls took up more space than the
piano.

  Wagner, Rolls 1 to 5, D727, D729, D731, D733 and D 735
  Chopin (D429) Six pianists.
  Brahms (D45) Four pianists.
  Beethoven rolls 1 & 2 (D333 and D335) Four pianists.
Elgars Enigma variations roll 1 to 5 played by the composer,
    D885, D887, D889, D891 and D893.
Childrens Biographical roll of Mendelssohn D743, and the
Childrens Centenary roll of Schubert D717.
The autobiographical set of Stravinski rolls played by the composer
entitled "My life and music" to the Fire-Bird.
    D759, D761, D763, D765, D767 and D769.
