Hi All.  Check out http://www.frets.com/ for some interesting info on
making and modifying special tools, using hot hide glue, etc.  Go to
the big contents page, then to items for luthiers.

One very interesting item is glue from the supermarket: using gelatin
for glue.  They make the point that it may be too strong for wood-
working!  You can spend quite a bit of time looking over ways of doing
things, making tools, etc.
