Rotary Cutters for Leather and Felt
By D. L. Bullock

I also use rotary cutters for all types of cutting. I find that they
work better for leather and felt than they do for rubber cloths. Of
course, they work fine for the cloths if the cutter wheel is new. We
use our two cutters constantly. Motor cloth and bellows cloth dulls
them quickly, so I still use razor blades for those materials.

I cut back the handle on one of my cutters, exposing more blade so
I can cut between reed organ pallets once I have mounded them to the
new leather.

The old method of cutting pouch leather is to lay down two straight-
edges and cut between them, but only one edge is needed for a rotary
cutter. The cutter wheels are available at office supply stores as it
is the same wheel used for modern paper cutters.
