Lyon & Healy Pipe Organ Factory in Michigan
By Tom Detweiler

Yet another piece of the Lyon & Healy puzzle: I am reading a book
titled "Tales of Battle Creek", by Berenice Lowe (1976), and I found
a sentence in it that states that Lyon & Healy had a pipe organ factory
in Battle Creek, Michigan, from about 1896 to 1902. It wasn't open
long and shut down due to faltering business, but I thought I should
toss this out for the pipe organ enthusiasts or historians.

The reference is there because many of the L&H musicians were
instrumental (sorry! ;-)) in helping to start a community symphony
while they were living in Battle Creek. I grew up there, and I never
knew that pipe organs were one of the items produced in the city, even
briefly. Anyone have a L&H pipe organ that they know dates back to
that time or place?
