Crank Organ Uses Harmonica Reed Plates
By John Kleinbauer

Hi All, Well I am in over my head! I got my new crank organ finished.
My problem is the harmonica reed plates lack certain notes. I am using
the song "In The Good Old Summertime" in the key of "C". The melody is
going on the drum like icing on the cake.

My problem is the accompaniment. Since harmonica players can bend
notes, some notes are left off. I could get a set of custom plates
made, but that would make the organ cost more than $50 to make. It
looks like I am going to have to work around this problem unless
somebody jumps in and pulls me out!

The notes I do have are: C, D, E, G, B, Middle C, D, E, G, A, B, C,
D, E, G, A, and C.

The organ has no flats or sharps but that is not the problem. The
problem is the missing notes on the bottom end of the scale are messing
up the Umm-Pa-Pa's.

I put some pictures of the new organ on my web site at
