Replacing Ampico B Motor Governor Points
By John McClelland

Greetings all, I had an inquiry the other day from Ken Caswell, who
was doing some adjusting on his Chickering Ampico B. The roll drive
motor seems to speed up when the 'make and break' points get tempor-
arily fused together. He says they have been filed almost to nothing.

My question is this: is there any way to replace the contacts on the
points or can they be replaced with another set from some other
applications, such as automobile points from a 1947 Hudson, or some
such? I guess the question has implications in that what will we do
once the majority of the points in all the Ampico B's become unfileable
and need to be replaced; throw away the piano or find another way to keep
the roll drive electric?

Any ideas and solutions would be most welcome.

Thanks,

John McClelland
(in soggy Central Texas)
