Packing Books and Rolls for Posting
By Julian Dyer

Some time between Christmas and New Year the Post Office left a parcel
on my doorstep -- quite against the rules, but common practice. It was
extremely wet during the five or so days it sat there until I got back
home.

Result: one soaked original 1927 Duo-Art catalog. And a _very_ annoyed
buyer! It's drying out (anyone got any hints on drying books?), but
it'll never be same again. Cash just doesn't compensate for loss of
rare and historical items such as this.

Moral: wrap things in a plastic bag as well as all the other card
and shock-absorbing stuff. When the Post Office is concerned, it's
probably not possible to make up too far-fetched a damage scenario!
