Salvaging Roll Labels
By John Phillips

In MMD 000106 Tim Baxter mentions soaking the labels off old boxes to
reglue them onto new boxes. (This response is late because I've been
on holiday.)

I try this quite often but it doesn't always work very well. Sadly for
me, the most difficult labels to remove seem to be those on Aeolian
boxes, particularly the UK-made ones. I don't know what glue they used
for those labels but you could put a Space Shuttle together with it.
Even after 24 hours of soaking and maybe a few trips to the microwave
oven those labels are still hanging on.

Sometimes the label is half floating free and the temptation to gently
pull it away becomes uncontrollable. The result is usually a hole in
the middle of the label.

So while I thoroughly agree with Tim's idea, I'd like some hints on how
to conquer that tenacious glue.
