Ragtime Tunes on "Fair Organ Follies" Recording
By Harvey Roehl

There have been several comments recently about ragtime playing on
instruments other than a piano, so here's some more trivia.

Our 57-key Gavioli fairground organ is set up to play MIDI files via a
gadget that literally sits on top of the keys. In five minutes we can
change it back to play book music, and the organ is in no way invaded.

We had Tom Meijer in Holland arrange 22 tunes for us, and among these
are two rags, Twelfth St. Rag and Tiger Rag. Opinions will differ, of
course, but they sound pretty good to me!

These 22 tunes were recorded for commercial sale under the title "Fair
Organ Follies". Shortly thereafter we sold the business to Dave Miner.
Anyone interested can check these at http://www.minermfgco.com/ and
click on 'Recordings.'
