Showing Silent Movies at Home
By Ron Bopp

Interesting comment about silent movies. A few years ago I showed
silent movies (a lot of Charlie Chaplin) at home using my Style 20
American Photoplayer. At the time I had a nice collection of
Picturolls which would fit the mood of the movie. At the time
Ray Siou had even reproduced some of the rolls as well.

For movies, I used a Super-8 projector made by Kodak and acquired my
Chaplin movies (as well as others) from a company in Iowa called
Blackhawk. Then, over the years, Blackhawk discovered Beta and VHS
and the number of movies on film dropped to none.

I changed collecting interest, sold the Photoplayer, rolls, films and
projector lock, stock and barrel. It was fun at the time and visitors
(sometimes AMICA or MBSI chapters) really enjoyed. I hope you can find
a source for your movies and projector.
