We who appreciate player pianos and reproducing pianos seem to be a
rare breed.  Very few people actually listen to music.  The majority
of people want you to think they appreciate music, but given a test,
we find they are fraudulent!

I recently had a guest tell me, "I just love music, please play us
a roll."  I placed a very nice well-known selection on the Ampico.
It started to play.  What do you suppose the 'music loving' guest
said next?  "That is great"?

No, she said, "Did you know our local super market has a sale on
asparagus," and the talking continues.  I turn off the switch.  The
music stops.  The talking continues.  The music was not mentioned.

According to my survey, about 3% of people really enjoy *good* music,
including player piano, and reproducing piano music.
