Pneumatic Music Roll Reader for Residence Organ
By Henry Prellwitz, forwarded

I have read with much interest in the MMD the articles presented by
Bob Taylor and Richard Vance concerning the troubles with the old-
style pressure Aeolian 116-note players. I am planning to build an
"orchestral" sounding residence pipe organ (I used to be an active pipe
organ builder/restorer) and since I cannot afford an original Aeolian
organ (or player console) I want to build my own player unit.

Does anyone have any data on the later vacuum-read system (such as the
vacuum level used, bleed size, and pneumatic/pouch size) used in the
non-pressure read player? I would greatly appreciate any data of this
type. I have scrounged a tracker bar from a junked Moller Artiste
player; the hole spacing is the same as Aeolian, except for a wider bar
that used 11.25" wide rolls. Use of this bar would let me play 65-note
piano rolls on the lower set of holes.

Thank you, Henry Prellwitz
