Avon Musical Carousel
By Lamar Boulet

Someone the other day reported purchasing the Avon Musical Carousel
music box. I found one today and paid 25 dollars for it. It had been
used. I suppose the dealer had her fun with it at Christmas time.
That's okay, since I wanted to know how it worked.

The only thing mechanical about it is the electric motor that turns
the top of the carousel and I guess you could say that the chimes are
struck mechanically.

I have used the little Sankyo 20-note music box comb some, and have made
my own card strips, putting some of the local French and Cajun tunes on
the cards. But the Avon carousel is played by a computer chip. Sounds
good, but limited to the Christmas tunes programmed into it.

So, I guess I want get it to play Cajun music. I am in south Louisiana,
right in the heart of the Cajun culture.

Well, on to the next project.
