Surplus 78 RPM Records
By Pete Woodworth

After trying for years to wring _any_ amount of cash from my 1000-odd
recordings which were clogging half of my garage, last fall I donated
half of the wretched mess (Buddy Holly, Bix Beneke, Doris Day, the
Soviet Men's Chorus and all) to a thrilled, local thrift shop.

I was rewarded with a charitable tax receipt worth $490! Last month
I donated the rest of the piles, along with a 1947 Admiral radio/record
player, for another $490 receipt. Everybody wins.

Unfortunately, "Nature abhors a vacuum," so a Shopsmith lathe/saw/
joiner/drillpress somehow ended up in my garage where the 78's used
to be stacked. How does that occur?

Regards,
