If you are on a budget or if you wish to help save the environment,
I suggest that you try using a discarded coffee pot as a glue pot.

Several years ago, I found an old discarded 40-cup coffee pot,
hacksawed the top half off so that it wasn't so deep, and it heated
up fast and held the glue at exactly 140 degrees F indefinitely.
The glue was in a Mason jar that sat on a metal grid at the bottom
of the pot.

My second glue pot, which I still use, is another smaller coffee
pot.  The temperature stabilized at around 180 degrees F., much too
hot for hide glue.  I removed the automatic temperature-sensitive
switch from inside the base, and plugged it into a rheostat-controlled
electrical receptacle.  It works great and holds the glue at a steady
140 degrees F.

Good luck on finding a used glue pot.  I hope you do.  But if not,
keep your eyes open for that old usable coffee pot.  By the way, I use
my meat thermometer from the kitchen to monitor the glue temperature.
