Gershwin on Mel-O-Dee
By John Rutoskey

Regarding George Gershwin's music, I would like to comment that I have
never been a very big Gershwin fan. However, I do have a roll on the
Mel-O-Dee label played and written by Gershwin (according to the label)
called "Come to the Moon". It is a beautiful fox-trot melody from the
early 20's, with lyrics related to a new, fun and carefree lifestyle you
can have if you would simply move to the moon!

I have always liked this roll, and have never been able to find out much
about it. There were a lot of Mel-O-Dee rolls in the batch that I found
this one in, among them Eubie Blake playing his "Home Again Blues".

If any Greshwin fans have information about "Come to the Moon", I'd like
to hear it.
