Reed Organ Bellows Cloth
By Robert Linnstaedt

John Tuttle writes, "... I bought my last order from American Piano
Supply in Clifton, NJ... According to the blurb in the catalog it is
"cotton sheeting coated on one side with neoprene...."

I am a bit concerned about the neoprene, as regards longevity. It
seems to turn to goo over time, especially when exposed to certain
air pollutants (if memory serves me). I do not condemn this product
out-of-hand, as I've no personal experience.

Vulcanized rubber on cotton with hot hide glue is my standard. Since
the "historically correct" materials are readily available at similar
cost, I am wary of "modern concoctions".

Could someone else, more experienced, make comment on my concern?

Regards,
Robert Linnstaedt
