Phonograph Turntable Speeds

I remember reading somewhere that 33-1/3 was the speed of the turntable
on the Vitaphone talking picture projector.  The projector mechanism
also drove the turntable sitting on the back and the combination
provided 20 (+/-) minutes of audio for the 20 (+/-) minute reel of
film.
